Volunteering Days

22nd Feb 2020 - 10:00am
Old Mans Mouth Car park - Forge Valley (Ayone attending from East or West Ayton may want to walk through Castle Fields as it will be a lot closer to where we will be working.)

With Spring almost upon us and a reasonable forecast for the last 10 days in February we are arranging two Volunteering Days.

The first date is Saturday 22nd February from 10am to 3pm. The focus will be on Blackthorn at the southern end of the Boardwalk in Forge Valley and depending upon numbers attending continuing the removal of Snowberry at Old Mans Mouth car park. There will also be a small group required to tidy up Raincliffe Gate car park and remove the pile of non native shrubs which pupils from Graham School helped remove as  part of our joint working with North York Moors National Park Youth Engagement Team. We also have some oak tree saplings which we would like to plant out.

The second date is Thursday 27th February 10am to 3pm where we will focus on repair work to the track which runs from the Sawmill car park in both directions alongside Low Road. There will also be some work to help remove Rhododendrons along this route which are trying to re establish themselves after work done 3 years ago.

This work needs to be completed before the 1st of March to ensure nesting birds are not disturbed.
