Welcome to our Community Woodland Manager Paul Thompson

13th October 2020

Raincliffe Woods Community Enterprise (RWCE) is pleased to announce the appointment of Paul Thompson as Community Woodland Manager from the beginning of November.

Paul brings 17 years of experience across the public, private and charitable sector, mainly focussed on conservation land management and community engagement through grant funded partnerships; most recently working for the North York Moors National Park Authority and Yorkshire Wildlife Trust.

He has a passion for woodlands, enhancing biodiversity and connecting people with nature, and seeks out adventures whenever he can around the North York Moors. “Living locally I know the woods really well, but am looking forward to getting to know the community and striking the balance between a space for nature and a place for leisure and recreation – this role means a great deal to me on both a personal and professional level,” says Mr Thompson. “I believe I can bring valuable experience and passion to RWCE, and am really excited to continue the restoration of this fantastic habitat.”

Chair of Raincliffe Woods Community Enterprise Robert Sword adds: “I’m really excited to have appointed Paul Thompson as our new CommunityWoodland Manager. We are optimistic about the new chapter ahead andhope to build on the support and enthusiasm from our local community to continue to provide an invaluable green space for the people of Scarborough and grow RWCE into a sustainable social enterprise to continue to protect the woodland in the changing times ahead.”
