To celebrate our Working Woodland Heritage Project, funded by the Hey Smile Foundation and Farming and Protected Landscapes, we held our Wood Fest mini festival on Saturday 17th June 2023.
Wood Fest showcased what we have going on in the woods. It also gave us the opportunity to show how we are are trying to reintroduce traditional crafts, heritage management styles and green social prescribing to the woods.
Rob did green wood carving and people made spoons and that was very popular.
Claire led a wellbeing walk and some mindfulness practices.
We were very lucky to get a great close view of a buzzard.
Gillian held some quizzes and provided information about local flora and fauna for the children.
This went down well with many inquisitive minds!
Joe did the bushcraft activities and foraging, which everyone loved.
And our lovely volunteers, Hannah and Martin helped us throughout the day.
People picnicked in the woods and soaked up the beautiful rays and woodland atmosphere.
