Wild About the Woods is a two-year project to encourage the communities of Barrowcliff and Northstead to use, enjoy and learn about the woods.
Funded through the People’s Health Trust, Awards for All and Barrowcliff Big Local, the £39,000 project will provide a project worker for 8 hours/week along with materials, equipment and support to develop a series of activity groups and events. Ideas so far include conservation volunteers, mountain biking, nature rangers and bush crafts.
The expected outcomes of the project are:
- Increased involvement of local people and able to lead on project design, delivery and development.
- Increased and sustained friendships and connections between participants.
- Participants feel proud of the improvement to their local environment and feel they have learnt new skills.
We would love to hear your ideas for the project and for you to get involved. To find out more contact Will Watts on 07964 759433
